Set in the bustling village of Snettisham, Norfolk this traditional cottage propoerty underwent a full refurbishment by the owners including a single storey extension housing a new Kitchen, Day Room and Shower Room.
The brief was to design an extension that would be large enough for the owners requirements without resorting to a flat roof, which would be alien to the cottage. With the roof set to be pitched the next challenge was to avoid the first floor windows without resorting to 'inverted dormer windows'. Therefore a unique low pitch roof was designed utilising clay tiles and a specifically designed low pitch roofing membrane. The result from the outside is striking yet sympathetic whilst inside the vaulted ceiling is a welcome addition giving a real feel of space and natural light provided by the roof windows.
